Last of the tax-powered trains

My Dad is back, and commenting on the high speed rail proposal and the current state of Amtrak. He took a train from Albany to Syracuse after bringing my new car to me, and loved it. Mostly because he had more or less a private train car.

I’m not gonna badmouth, but I’m gonna badmouth.

Okay. This might require a little background if you’re not familiar with the Forever Leather Man.
Forever Leather is a locally owned store at Sangertown Square mall in New Hartford (near Utica) NY. They may also have a location at Riverside mall; I don’t live there anymore and I don’t really care.
It sells, logically, things

Oh man

Only 1,000 seats for the public?  Not that I think they should have more…but on the scene, this isn’t going to be pretty.
We had the crazy idea to drive out for Bill Clinton back in 2004, and had to stand in line in the cold for hours, then were sent to overflow seating to watch

This is going to be fun!

I’m surprised that I heard about this from Utica TV and a blog before Hamilton did a regional alumni e-mail blast.. Jon Stewart, in the very gym where I failed my freshman fitness test. Imagine that!

As for me, I imagined it so clearly, I ran right to the Web site and booked alumni tickets for myself and an Albany friend. It costs money, but I won’t have to stand out in the cold for hours only to get sent to overflow seating like my dad and I did for Bill Clinton in 2004.

MOAR

13 years later…

They’re doing something with ELS. That building has been sitting and rotting since 1995 and is one of the last of the fraternity/private society houses to be renovated at Hamilton. It was a bus stop and occasional meeting space during my time there.
