‘Cuse dispatches

Molly Molly McIntyre Northrup wishes you a merry Christmas!

Molly is a bit alarmed by the collector prices for some of her favorite toys. I bought or received almost all of my American Girl stuff in the ’90s, before Mattel bought the company.

My Molly was made in Germany, and after that, the dolls were briefly made at a Götz factory here in Baldwinsville. At one point they had a factory sale which became a local legend–apparently they had the Pleasant Company dolls for obscenely low prices. Later factory sales only had the Götz dolls–I’m not sure if they just didn’t have any Pleasant dolls available for sale, or if maybe the company wasn’t pleased with the factory sale. All I know was that I wanted a Felicity doll.

Maybe Molly needs some new glasses so we can be twinsies. It’s not worth putting in a whole order and paying shipping when the shipping is more than the item, and I don’t want or need anything else from that catalog.

It’s Friday, and I’ve been here visiting my parents (and Molly) since Sunday. I think this is the most time I’ve spent here after a holiday since I moved to Albany, since I usually have had to go back to work right away. Advantage of not having a job, I guess. There aren’t many.

I’m wondering if my laptop needs to go in for some work. I think it has thermostat or fan problems. It’s so hot right now that I can’t even hold it on my lap. It’s more noticeable here than at my apartment since my parents heat with a woodstove and it’s about 73 degrees down here, compared to the brisk but energy-saving 65 we set the thermostat for at Chez Hamster. The hamsters seem to like the climate in here a little bit better.

Maggie slept next to me on my bed last night. She’s such a nice doggie.
