Park Avenue (west of Empire State Plaza) Albany, NY

Some days at work, I’m able to get a parking space at on the off-street spots on Park Avenue.  It’s a few blocks’ walk from there to work, but not bad for free parking.

That end of Park is fascinating because the brick street was never repaved.  Parts of the city are like that, and it’s more due to neglect than some sort of historical aesthetic thing.   It’s patched in places, but overall…well, look at the photo.

I took a few quick pictures of the Hinckel Brewery apartments, which would be a perfect place to live if I were continuing to work at the state library indefinitely.  I’m not, so as it is, they’re awkwardly placed–sort of at the edge of downtown, not really part of Center Square and not really part of the Mansion neighborhood.  Not really part of Park South, either.  There’s a lot of parking for a downtown apartment building, though, and they’re architecturally neat.

    Nope, it is all apartments.
