Domestication

I fail at sewing aprons. I’m determined to get this right–the problem is that the original pattern was poorly designed, but I’m still determined to make a few nice replicas so I’m not wearing my grandmother’s every day. (It has a few holes and other issues.) Sewing around curves on a machine confuses me, so I hope I’ll improve with practice.

The original apron isn’t exactly a feat of technical skill, though, so I think I’ll come out in the end with something usable. If not, I have an embroidery project lined up next that I can use to console myself. My new pledge is not to buy hand-embroidered clothing when the embroidery is done by 12-year-old Malaysians, and instead to do it myself. We’ll see how that works out.
