TV talk
The government needs to get on the cable companies and force them to offer à la carte programming. I say this because I was looking into cable options for after my move in case I decide to hook it up (options: Time Warner or mini-dish), and 90% of the channel lineup consists of things that I would never watch.
So here is what, in an ideal world, my personal cable lineup would consist of:
NBC
CBS
ABC
PBS
FOX
(Syracuse readers will note that yes, those are in numeric order for the Syracuse market, since 3, 5, 9, 24, and 68 is how I will always think of them.)
BBC America
Comedy Central
Cartoon Network
HBO (solely for Big Love.)
The History Channel
TLC
TV5 États-Unis
And…um, that’s about it. Maybe Nickelodeon for occasional Nick at Nite perusal? But not the rest of that extraneous crap. I don’t want to pay for someone to pipe five shopping channels into my home.
Barring that, I guess there’s always BitTorrent.
