an allcampus email. joy!

Sure, I’d protest at the NYC French consulate, but only to try to improve the speed of the visa
section. I spent five hours in there that I could have spent…well…doing something constructive. I
do that once in a while.
I don’t know. It just bugs me. I don’t believe that France is being entirely humanitarian in
their opposition to the war (business with Iraq and all), although that’s part of it. once enough
wars are fought on your territory (or, more to the point, enough Germans come traipsing through
your territory and try to, you know, take it) you develop a distaste for war. One would think.
I can’t be entirely idealistic–I don’t think I’m physically capable of it, in fact. But…ergh.
We are wagging the dog. Woof.

Sigh. I’m going to lie back down now.

Here’s the text of the e-mail that went out:

Join the effort in the current debate on a possible war with Iraq!

Everyone is protesting these days!

The Hamilton College Republican Club in conjunction with the National Young Republi-
cans and Young Americans For Freedom Organization
invites you to attend the following event:

Please join us in supporting the United States!

What: Demonstration at the French Consulate
Where: 934 Fifth Avenue (between 74th et 75th Streets) in Manhattan
When: Friday March 7, 2003 2:00 PM

RSVP: 212 477 9022 or newyorkyaf@aol.com

On Friday, March 7 the United States introduced another resolution (number 18) to the United
Nations regarding Iraqi disarmament, members of New York – Young Americans for Freedom
(NY-YAF) will rally outside the French Consulate showing their disdain for the obstructionist
attitude the French government has towards the United States efforts to remove Saddam Hussein
from Power. The rally being held in New York will mirror similar rallies at various French
consulates across the country at the same time.

“The French are entitled to have their wrong opinions, they should just learn to keep their
opinions to themselves. The French delegation to the United Nations went too far when they
vetoed the U.N. resolution that would have defended Turkey from an Iraqi attack. Their veto
shows a vile disregard to the US legacy of liberating people from oppressive regimes that threaten
the rest of the world,” said Steven Tursi, the Treasurer and Senior Director of NY-YAF.
YAF runs the website www.givewarachance.org, as a special project. Givewarachance.org
is the premier anti-pacifism, Pro-America site on the internet. Young Americans for Freedom is
the nation’s oldest, largest, and most active conservative youth organization. YAF was founded
on September 11, 1960 on the Sharon, CT estate of William F. Buckley. For more information on
NY – YAF please log on to www.nyyaf.com, or email joinyaf@aol.com.
